Celebration was founded in 1994 and became a town in June 1996. While many things about Celebration remain the same, some things have changed. A perfect example is the Bank of America used to be a Preview Center. The real estate agents worked in the Preview Center before Celebration was built. Celebration was built based on Walt Disney's dream of a town where people could live, work, and play. It was built on what used to be a citrus farm and swamp land that was owned by the Disney Company. The original design called for a K-12 school and it was housed in Building 851, which is located near the Celebration School's gym. As time went by, one K-12 school became two separate schools. The K-8 school now includes approximately 10 buildings and the high school has its own campus. Even the Town Hall has moved. The old Town Hall was located in downtown Celebration. Now it is being transformed into the Celebration History Center and the new Town Hall is located inside Building 851, the old Celebration K-12 School. We'd like to thank Walt Disney for his idea which became our town.
